Jungian psychology is heavily rooted in championing the individual in the therapeutic process. This theoretical approach validates the child's internal and external world, while creating a safe environment for the play therapy relationship. It also views the child's disruptive behavior as an opportunity for deeper understanding and communication from the child's inner world.

This approach uses the behavioral symptoms as a road map to the child's deeper psychic disturbance. It uses the symbolic language of the child's play to understand witness and interpret the source of the psychic disruption. The "healer" is found and the source of the problem is resolved through this therapeutic process of symbolic engagement.

Presented by Utah Association for Play Therapy. UAPT is approved by the Association for Play Therapy, #98-036, to offer continuing education credits to play therapists. UAPT maintains responsibility for the program. Views expressed are those of the presenters and not necessarily endorsed by UAPT or APT.
